Rec and Teen Club at Special Olympics in West Point
On Saturday May 4th, The Rec and Teen Club once again competed in the Special Olympics Track and Field Competition at the United States Military Academy. They did a wonderful job. They were thrilled with Caitlin Service and Brian Conklin both getting 2 Gold Medals. They will be going to be spectators at the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics New York State summer games at Vassar College on June 14th. Congratulations Green Vipers!!
On Sunday April 28th The ARC OF Dutchess once again participated at the Community Autism Walk, a walk for autism awareness. Organized by Allison Fedigan. This year’s Walk was at a new location, Stringham Park in the town of Lagrange. The ARC Of Dutchess Rec and Teen Club were there. High School football teams from many local schools including Our Lady of Lourdes, Spackenkill, Arlington, Roy C. Ketcham, Millbrook, and John Jay were there as volunteers for the event. Care Design had a booth in one of the tents.
We know how to Think Differently from our County Executive Marc Molinaro. Then we walked around the lake. The rain held off but it doesn’t dampen our spirit!! We hope everyone had fun!!
Recreation Club at the 2019 Special Olympics Time Trials
On Saturday, April 6th the Rec and Teen Club competed in the Special Olympics time trials. They did a great job and they look forward to West Point on May 4th. The weather on April 6th was a very warm sunny day. The time trials started around 9:00 am and ended around 12:00 pm with the relay races. They had to qualify for the competition on May 4th at West Point, New York.
On Wednesday January 23rd the rec and teen club were at a varsity girls basketball game with John Jay Patriots and the Arlington Admirals, at John Jay High School in East Fishkill. At the end of the 4th period, the game went into overtime. It’s the longest game ever. During overtime John Jay broke the tie, defeating the Arlington Admirals 62-60. Congratulations John Jay Patriots!!!!
On Sunday December 16th everyone from the Arc of Dutchess had fun at the holiday formal at the Villa Borghesse. Abilities First and New Horizons were also there. They had a nice dinner, had photos at the photo booth, and danced the night away!! Everyone had a fun time!!
The Arc of Dutchess has received CQL Re-certification
The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) visited The Arc
of Dutchess this past week to complete the final assessment of the agency for
renewal of its CQL accreditation. The Council on Quality and Leadership
accreditation holds high standards and in depth review before awarding an
agency CQL accreditation.
We are very pleased to announce that as of Friday morning,
12/14/18 The Arc of Dutchess was approved for another four year CQL
accreditation with high praise for its work over the past four years. The
agency must now complete its CQL plans and goals for the next four year period which
were submitted in draft form during the reviewers’ visit.
The Council on Quality and Leadership provides
accreditation, training, certification, and customized consultation to human
service organizations and systems that share our vision of dignity, opportunity
and community for all people.
Rec and Teen Club at the 2018 Special Olympics Physical Fitness Competition
On Saturday December 1st 2018, the Rec and Teen Club participated in the Special Olympics physical fitness competition. They did sit ups, circle run, line push ups, line jump, front scale, and much more. They did a great job!! Congratulations Vipers!!
ARC Outreach Committee Attends Business and Hospitality and Expo
The Dutchess County Regional of Commerce hosted the 2018 Hospitality and Business Expo at the Civic Center. Thank you Evelyn Flavin for packing little candy bags, gathering brochures and providing the computer for us to show some of our individuals at their jobs, during the show! A big shout-out to Stephanie Kistner (my chief “set up” helper), Nikki Rowell, Steve Dambra, Joan Sczerba, Barbara Wood and Sharon Russitano for their time at our booth and scouting around the show to pick up ideas.
Maxine Nelson was recognized as the 2018 William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award ceremony in Albany on October 12, 2018. Maxine has worked with the Arc of Dutchess for over 18 years. She currently works with the Dust Busters and has been for about seven years. Congratulations Maxine Nelson!!
